About The Artist

I’m Madelyn Hernandez, a non-binary Mexican and Dominican artist based in North Carolina. I go by Mad!

I am passionate about painting and illustrating the world of Faerie from an inclusive and modern perspective. It is important to me to create work for people who feel left out and overlooked by those who can’t sense the magic and ethereal beauty in unconventional spirit. My work is heavily inspired by unsettled feelings and desires to be seen, heard, and understood. I recognize I am merely a medium for the whimsical characters who come to me at different emotional stages. I’m a firm believer that whenever a feeling is strongly felt, a faerie is born.

Same as hairstyles and fashion, different feelings call for different looks which is why my artwork is made in a variety of mediums and style choices. I work with graphite, watercolor, ink, color pencils, gouache, acrylic, and digital options like photoshop and procreate.

Make a donation.

As an artist living with multiple sclerosis and various mental health set backs, I struggle with financial independence. Your donation will help with medical bill debt and my upcoming neurology appointments. I don’t have health insurance and appreciate any help.

Every donation (no matter the amount), receives a hand written thank you note and doodle in the mail at the end of every month. Thank you for your generosity and kindness.

xoxo Mad
